* About the Department
As a large-scale emergency department in Hualien and Taitung, the Department takes “safety, comfort, and privacy” as its service goal.It has a total of 25 beds and 9 full-time specialist attending physicians.The internal space of the Department is divided as follows: emergency and intensive care area, treatment area, internal medical and surgical diagnosis and treatment area, pediatric examination area, observation area, obstetrics and gynecology examination room, consultation room, and conference room.

Our hospital is equipped with complete examination equipment, including routine X-ray and ultrasound examinations, whole-body computed tomography, and MRI, to provide complete and timely services for patients with emergency situations. It is also equipped with mobile X-ray equipment to offer X-ray examinations to critically-injured patients “without leaving the monitoring of medical and nursing staff” to ensure their safety.

Furthermore, our hospital is now the primarily responsible hospital for the Hualien Regional Emergency Medical Network. In addition to emergency rescue work in Hualien, our hospital also shoulders the heavy responsibility of educational training. To strengthen the processing ability of medical and nursing personnel and firefighters, our hospital often organizes and/or assists the emergency medical network in organizing various related educational training. Additionally, it has cooperated with the Fire Department to hold various training for elementary, intermediate, and senior Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT I & II & EMTP), often stationed in various fire brigades in Hualien County.In this way, they can cooperate in emergency care and participate in various emergency care assessments to improve the level of emergency medical care in Hualien.

Moreover, to serve the increasing number and complexity of patients with emergency trauma and improve the quality of emergency medical care for patients with trauma, our hospital has established trauma teams and emergency outpatient services, in collaboration with our ICU, regular inpatient wards, and other medical specialist colleagues to work together in facilitating patients’ medical access and better care.

Under the mutual assistance of software and hardware, our hospital staff works together to make our hospital the most trusted hospital in Hualien for acute and critical care and trauma treatment. In this way, the people in Hualien will no longer have any hesitation and fear in mind despite the inevitability of emergencies.They trust that the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mennonite Christian Hospital will always care fortheir patients’ lives.
